Terry Gilliam is indispensable to the world of movies. He’s a director with such unique vision and directorial capability that camera angles have been named after him. Most specifically, a form of deep focus perspective distortion that imbues his films with a curved feel, as if the audience is peering at his actors and visuals through a door’s peephole.

It is tragic that Heath Ledger passed away at such an early age, leaving behind family and throngs of fawning fans. But at the very least we are left to grapple with and wonder about the legacy left behind by Ledger — the man, the knight, the Joker.

Let me just begin this tribute-rant by putting into writing what must be said: Heath Ledger was a gloriously beautiful, beautiful — nay — scrumptious — man. Heath was like a gourmet chocolate velvet cupcake with white frosting for which his accent was the sprinkles.

From A Knight’s Tale to The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger’s career began as the simple birth of a heartthrob within an already heartthrob-filled world — one where it was difficult not to blend in with all the other emerging Hollywood hunks.
