Gerry Dee interviewed former men’s hockey goaltender Ben Scrivens ’10 and other members of the Toronto Marlies, and advised them how to go about getting called up to the NHL. During his segment, Scrivens talks about “glorified waiting” at the Hotel school, and even knocks on Providence College for not being an Ivy. Scrivens '10 Recalled By Maple Leafs

The ECHL’s Reading Royals — affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins and AHL’s Toronto Marlies — announced Wednesday that former Cornell goaltender Ben Scrivens ’10 has been recalled from the Royals by the Maple Leafs and assigned to the Marlies.

The league office announced yesterday afternoon that senior goaltender Ben Scrivens and defenseman Brendon Nash, also a senior, made the top list — both made the jump from second team accolades last season.

Men's Hockey Shuts Out Harvard in Cambridge for First Time Since 1967

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. ­–– Senior goaltender Ben Scrivens managed his 16th career shutout on Friday night at Harvard, helping the Red to a 3-0 victory over the Crimson on Friday night. This shutout –– his fifth of the season –– leaves Scrivens only two shy of the University record for most career shutouts, currently held by David McKee. It was also the first shutout that the Red has claimed over the Crimson away from Ithaca since 1967, and this had the numerous Cornell fans at Harvard’s rink –– affectionately called Lynah East –– bursting with excitement.

Garman Ready to Navigate to Top of Depth Chart

This weekend proved to be the start of new beginnings, as sophomore Michael Garman saw his first moments of conference play this season. Head coach Mike Schafer ’86 made the executive decision to switch out senior goaltender Ben Scrivens, after he let in four goals within 26 minutes, for Garman. Finishing up the remainder of the game between the posts, Garman made 21 saves to keep the Red still in the game.

It's Make-or-Break Weekend for Men's Hockey at Lynah Rink

Tonight and tomorrow, Lynah Rink will host what could be two of the most crucial home games for the Red this year. Tonight, Cornell (13-6-3, 7-2-2 ECAC Hockey) will square off against the visiting Brown Bears (7-13-3, 5-8-3) in what will be the 110th meeting in this historic rivalry. Tomorrow, a Yale team (14-6-3, 10-4-2) that is tied for first place in ECAC Hockey will come to Ithaca for a 7 p.m. matchup.

Scrivens Posts Third Shutout of Season in Red Win

In some games, a normally empty sports cliché really rings true. After Friday’s 2-0 victory for the men’s hockey team, the old saying “a win’s a win” certainly came to mind. Despite being outshot, 32-16, Cornell prevailed over Quinnipiac on the back of a remarkable shutout performance by senior goalie Ben Scrivens.
